Chinese chess prodigy leads FIDE GP in first stage

MOSCOW, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- After 11 rounds of competition, Chinese chess player Hou Yifan led the first stage of FIDE Women Grand Prix in Rostov-on-Don on Sunday.

In the 11 round playing white, the Chinese world Champion made a draw against Bulgarian player to rank first with 8.0 points.

Ukraine's Katerina Lahno managed to make a draw against Humpy Koneru and became second in the tournament with 7.5 points.

Slovenian Anna Muzychuk shared the third place with Russian Tatiana Kosintseva, both finishing their games at 6.7 points.

Another Chinese player Rusan Lufei finished 10th in the tournament with a 4.5-point.

After the game, Hou told a press conference that she "really enjoyed playing in this strong event."

"I just decided to continue playing normally last two rounds and I'm glad everything finished well," she said.

The next stage of FIDE Women Grand Prix is going to be held in Chinese city of Shenzhen from 6-20 of September.
