Brazil secures berth for Futsal World Cup

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Brazil guaranteed its place at November's futsal World Cup in Thailand with a 3-0 victory over Argentina on Tuesday night.

Goals to Falcao, Rodrigo and Je kept Brazil's undefeated tournament record intact at Gramado's Perinao gymnasium in Rio Grande do Sul state.

The game, which had few opportunities early on, sprung to life late in the first half with both teams creating chances when in possession.

Brazil's winning margin could have been greater if not for the efforts of goalkeeper Santigo Elias, who made a string of reflex saves to deny the host team.

Brazil, ranked second in the world behind Spain, has won four of the six FIFA futsal World Cups since 1989.
