IOC satisfied with 2014 Sochi Olympics preparations

MOSCOW, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) official Jean-Claude Killy has been satisfied with the pace of Russia's preparation work for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, local media reported on Tuesday.

During his two-day inspection in Sochi, Killy visited a number of sport venues which are under construction in the Russian Black Sea resort city.

"We are sure that all the venues to be built in 2012-2013 will be absolutely ready to host all the participants," the IOC official said.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who is in charge for the 2014 Olympics preparations, assured Killy that "the most difficult part of the preparation works has been finished."

He added that this winter 19 test competitions in nine sports will be held in Sochi's mountain stadium cluster.

Russia builds 11 sport venues in Sochi with the total capacity of 200,000 visitors.
