Fortune 500 ranking

A total of 73 Chinese firms joined the rank of Fortune Global 500 for 2012, 12 more compared with that of 2011, according to a list released by fortunechina.com Monday.

Compared with only two private companies that were listed in 2011, another three appeared on the list. Zhejiang Geely Holding (Group) Co got on the list for the first time, ranking No. 475.

Chinese banks moved up in the ranking, with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China rising to No.54 this year from No.77 in 2011 and the Bank of China to No.93 from No.132 last year.
