An accumulated total of 3.40 million tons of newly produced wheat from major production regions has been purchased through the year to date as of June 15, according to statistics released Monday from the State Administration of Grain.

This figure is based on grain enterprises in nine major wheat growing regions, including Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces.

The National Development and Reform Commission reaffirmed the minimum price of wheat on May 24, declaring that white, red and mixed wheat must be sold at no less than 2.04 yuan ($0.32) per kilogram.
