Foreign trade shows signs of recovery

(Global Times)

China's foreign trade may be picking up, Li Jinzao, vice minister of commerce, said recently, citing statistics from early May.

According to Li, the total transaction value of imports and exports for the first 10 days of May reached $109.77 billion, up 27.6 percent year-on-year. Specifically, exports increased 27.3 percent and imports grew 28 percent.

However, it will not be easy to reach this year's foreign trade target as demand abroad is set to recover slowly, Li noted.
