China buys US debt in March

China boosted its US Treasury bond holdings in March as the dollar trended upward, according to data released yesterday by the US Department of the Treasury.

China increased its long-term US debt holdings by $14.7 billion in March, bringing the nation's holdings to a total of $1.17 trillion, said the US Treasury. China remains the largest shareholder of the US government bonds.
