YRD exports recover

The 16 cities in the Yangtze River Delta have reported total exports of $153.6 billion in the first quarter, a 3.4 percent increase compared with the previous year, and close to the growth rate before the financial crisis, according to a report released yesterday by Wuxi Bureau of Statistics in East China's Jiangsu Province.

Zhejiang Province reported the highest growth rate at 5.9 percent and its proportion in the delta has increased 0.6 percentage points.

Among the 16 cities, seven recorded exports of higher than $5 billion.

Foreign investment in the delta also recorded stable growth, at $14.4 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 9 percent year-on-year.
