Nation's small business struggling

(Global Times)

08:54, April 23, 2012

More than 10 percent of China's small businesses are operating in the red, according to the results of a survey released Saturday by Fudan University's School of Management.

The survey found that there are 13 million small- and micro-sized enterprises in China, most of which are struggling with low profitability. Their main problems lie in mounting costs, financing difficulties and heavy tax burdens. Due to their small scale, micro enterprises are more sensitive to market changes, making it easy to suffer a loss, according to the survey.
