HK's foreign assets of exchange fund up 2.11 USD in Feb

HONG KONG, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's foreign assets of the exchange fund increased by 16.4 billion HK dollars (about 2.11 U.S. dollars) to 2.24 trillion HK dollars in February, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said here Wednesday.

The monetary base amounted to 1.08 trillion HK dollars, while claims on the private sector in the city amounted to 131 billion HK dollars. Foreign liabilities, representing fees payable to the exchange fund's external managers, amounted to 100 million HK dollars.
