Shanghai to build itself smart industrial center

Shanghai will advance a project during the 12th Five-Year Plan period to develop Shanghai into a pioneer city with new industrial development modes, strategic emerging industries and high-end producing services said an official.

These measures can lay a solid foundation for building Shanghai into a high-end global 'intelligent manufacture' center.

The project, named "Two doubles and one promotion", refers to double strategic emerging industries and producing services, as well as promote advanced manufacturing industries.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Shanghai will try to establish a "belt leading, base concentration and group development" featured development layout.

"Belt leading" means to focus on quality steel, ships and marine engineering equipment, advanced major equipment, civil aviation, new material, new energy, oil and fine chemical industries along the coastal area relying on Baoshan, Chongming (Changxing Island), Pudong, Fengxian and Jinshan (including northern shore of Changxing Island and Hangzhou Bay) , to build this area into a world-class coastal industrial lines.
