Covering a growing number of sectors, Chinese investment in the United States has increased rapidly in recent years, and has become a major driving force for a mutually beneficial trade relationship between the two countries, Shen Danyang, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said on Feb. 16.

The Chinese embassy in the United States recently launched a website named “Guide to Investing in the United States”, which shows China’s aspiration to increase investment in the United States, and will be a major platform serving Chinese companies investing in the country.

China and the United States is each other’s second largest trading partner. Their bilateral trade volume reached 446.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, 180 times that in 1979 when the two countries established diplomatic ties.

China’s imports from the United States exceeded 100 billion U.S. dollars last year for the first time, hitting 122.2 billion U.S. dollars, up 20 percent from the previous year. China has been the fastest-growing export market for the United States for 11 consecutive years.
