China's gold output ranks 1st in world for 5 consecutive years

China's gold output reached 360.96 tons in 2011, up 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to the latest statistics from the China Gold Association. China's gold output has ranked first in the world for 5 consecutive years.

The largest gold output province is Shandong, followed by Henan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Inner Mongolia. The gold output in the five above-mentioned provinces accounts for 59.9 percent of the country's total.

China's gold output was only 4 tons in 1949 and 13.8 tons in 1975. Because of the country's supportive policy for gold production started since 1970s, the gold industry in China has developed rapidly.

In 1995, the county's gold output exceeded 100 tons, and the volume of production reached 200 tons in 2003, and 300 tons in 2009.

China's gold output surpassed South Africa in 2007 for the first time. As of 2011, China has maintained the top one gold output country in the world for five consecutive years.
