BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Industry Cleaning Association of China was founded Wednesday, a move analysts said will help promote the development of the country's industrial cleaning sector.

"The founding of the association will boost the industry's technology upgrading and provide a fresh impetus for the sector," said Shao Ning, vice director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, at the founding ceremony.

China has established a comprehensive industrial cleaning system, including new product development, manufacturing and cleaning services, said Gu Xiulian, the former head of the now defunct government agency that had supervised the chemical industry. She added that the industrial cleaning sector has played a key role in promoting energy conservation and emissions reduction in the country.

Gu said she hopes the association will fully perform its functions by helping member companies explore business opportunities, strengthening their exchanges with governments, and protecting their legitimate rights.

The country's industrial cleaning sector developed rapidly over the past decade, with the industry output reaching 140 billion yuan (22.22 billion U.S. dollars) last year, according to official figures.

The association currently has more than 350 member companies, which provide all types of industrial cleaning services, from locomotive and aircraft cleaning to clock cleaning.
