Macao's package tour arrivals up 60.9 pct in Oct.

MACAO, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Macao's visitor arrivals in package tours in October soared by 60.9 percent year on year to 637,345, according to figures released by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) Wednesday.h Visitors from the Chinese mainland (460,660), Taiwan (43,594), Hong Kong (31,189) and South Korea (24,166) increased by 67.7 percent, 97.7 percent, 46.5 percent and 104.9 percent respectively, the figures indicated.

In the first ten months of 2011, visitor arrivals in package tours increased by 20.4 percent year on year to 5,744,610, according to the DSEC.

Meanwhile, Macao residents traveling outbound in package tours decreased by 7.1 percent year on year to 17,844 in October, with the Chinese mainland (75.6 percent of the total), Taiwan (five percent of the total) and Thailand (4.1 percent) being the most popular destinations.
