Hong Kong shares close 0.06% lower

HONG KONG, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks Monday dipped 10.57 points, or 0.06 percent to close at 18,575.66, led by concerns over the unsolved European sovereign-debt crisis.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 18,919.42 and 18,508.12. Turnover totaled 44.30 billion HK dollars (about 5.69 billion U.S. dollars).

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 7.28 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 10,059.35.

Three of the four sub-indices lost ground. The Properties sub-index dropped 0.59 percent, the Utilities fell 0.27 percent and the Commerce & Industry dipped 0.06 percent. The Finance edged up 0.07 percent.

Market heavyweight HSBC slightly added 0.08 percent to 60.10 HK dollars. China Mobile rose 0.74 percent to 75.35 HK dollars. HKEx, the city's sole bourse operator, fell 0.24 percent to 127 HK dollars.

The Chinese mainland lenders were up in general. ICBC moved up 0.21 percent to close at 4.71 HK dollars. Bank of Communications ended flat at 5.30 HK dollars. Bank of China rose 1.07 percent to 2.83 HK dollars. China Construction Bank dropped 0.18 percent to 5.53 HK dollars.
