On Dec. 7, the pilot cooperative project of the China-U.S. Large Port Program was launched in the Yangshan Port of Shanghai.

The Yangshan Port pilot cooperative project is jointly implemented by China's General Administration of Customs and the General Administration of Quality Supervision as well as the U.S. Department of Energy.

By installing a radiation detecting system in the port, it is aimed at preventing the illegal trade of nuclear materials and other radioactive substances to guarantee the security of the supply chain for international trades.

The General Administration of Customs of China and U.S. Department of Energy have carried out a series of positive and effective activities based on the port program, such as the customs security cooperation and radiation detecting technical training and have further expanded the cooperation range, which lays a solid foundation for joint anti-terrorism cooperation between China and the United States.
