China publishes low-carbon economy report

Recently, the Annual Report on China's Low-Carbon Economic Development 2012 compiled by the Institute of Global Low-carbon Economy under the University of International Business and Economics was published in Beijing.

The report reviewed China's energy-conservation and emission-reduction achievements of the 11th Five-Year Plan. In the five-year span between 2005 and 2010, China's energy consumption per unit GDP decreased by 19.1 percent, while the amount of carbon emissions to reached 1.5 billion tons, making China the largest producer of carbon emissions in the world.

The report also analyzed the 12th Five-Year Plan with regard to such aspects as energy conservation and emission reduction, new energy strategy, environmental protection and ecological balance and urban low-carbon construction, portrayed the blue print of China's future green development and made authoritative analyses on the latest trends of low-carbon green development.
