Shanghai has made encouraging progress in building itself into a wireless city.

Shanghai residents can now log into China Mobile's Shanghai wireless city website to inquire about various bills, such as water and electricity; to buy movie and show tickets; to order take-out, and to make restaurant reservations.

The wireless city service operated by China Mobile's Shanghai branch has begun commercial operation on a pilot basis. Local residents can log into the wireless city website to enjoy nearly 50 types of urban information services covering government affairs, public utilities and personal life via their mobile phones, personal computers, iPads or other Internet-enabled devices.

The wireless city service is now open to all Shanghai residents for free. China Mobile subscribers and all Internet users in the city can visit or, register an account using their mobile phone number or e-mail address and then enjoy various useful services anywhere at any time.
