The Energy Research Institute under the National Development and Reform Commission and the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan co-sponsored the "2011 Cross-Strait Renewable Energy Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference" in Taiwan on Nov. 23.

The conference focused on the development and cooperation in offshore wind power, building-integrated photovoltaic technology and other fields. Enterprises from mainland and Taiwan signed a number of cooperation agreements on wind power equipment investment and technology transfer, anti-typhoon blade research and development and photovoltaic power plant construction.

Taiwan solar photovoltaic industry has developed quickly and achieved 200 billion New Taiwan dollars, roughly 40 billion yuan, of output value in 2010.

Taiwan considers the development of green energy industry to be an important measure to promote economic development, and has proposed the "Dawning Green Energy Industry Program" to support the construction of 1 million photovoltaic roofs, the development of offshore wind power and the continuous expansion of photovoltaic manufacturing industry.
