Recently, Ganyu County in eastern China's Jiangsu province started seafood harvesting.

Ganyu is one of the centers of a booming green freshwater industry that has transformed this county into a producer and the fastest-growing supplier of freshwater fish in China.

The local government introduced a series of favorable policies to encourage fishermen there to develop green freshwater fish. Currently, the area of green freshwater aquaculture totals more than 16,666.7 hectares in Ganyu County, with an annual output of more than 400,000 tons. And most of the aquatic products are destined for markets in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing.
