According to the Chinese Family Business Survey recently launched by Forbes China magazine, Chinese family business accounted for more than 30 percent of all the private listed companies in China.

The survey defines the term "family business" based on the actual control over the enterprise and the familiarity of the enterprises. The survey covers all the Chinese private enterprises that go public on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock market.

The survey shows that as of Sept. 30, 2011, the listed enterprises on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock market totaled 2,273, of which 1,268 are private enterprises. Of all the listed private enterprises, 460 are family business, which account for 32.7 percent of the total.
