Beijing, Nov.17 (People's Daily Online) -- China has made remarkable progress in the protection of intellectual property rights in the past year, Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming said during his meeting with U.S. officials on Nov. 11, 2011 in Hawaii, USA.

When meeting with U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson and Washington State Rep. Jim McDermott last Friday, Chen said that the special campaign against IPR infringement and counterfeits carried out last year nationwide was remarkably successful.

"China's own development requires more attention to innovation and IPR protection," said Chen. "Currently, China has set up a regular organization for national IPR protection made up of 26 departments and is establishing and improving a long-term mechanism for IPR protection." (Li Zhenyu)

To be regret, China has proved that the country is still far behind the international standard of the intellectual property rights with a direct translation of Japanese TV drama aired with no credit about the original copyright.
