Tianjin, People’s Republic of China, 16 November 2011 – Representatives of the World Economic Forum and the Tianjin Government, People’s Republic of China, today announced that the World Economic Forum’s sixth Annual Meeting of the New Champions (also known as the Summer Davos) will take place in Tianjin from 11 to 13 September 2012. The Meeting will be hosted in partnership with the government of the People’s Republic of China, represented by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Introduced in 2007, the Annual Meeting of the New Champions has become the foremost global business gathering in Asia. Over 1,500 business, government and civil society leaders from 90 countries have annually participated in the three-day Meeting. The first Meeting was held at a critical time as the world sought new ways to move forward from the global economic crisis. The Meeting focuses on the response of the new generation of fast-emerging multinational companies to the current economic challenges and future opportunities.

“We are excited to return to Tianjin for the 2012 Summer Davos,” said Olivier Schwab, Executive Director, World Economic Forum China. “The Meeting will once again provide an excellent platform for leaders to engage with the World Economic Forum’s Global Growth Companies Community – the industry leaders of tomorrow who are the driving force of economic and social change around the world,” he added.
