China 63rd in economic integration

(Xinhua)

China ranked 63rd out of 125 countries and regions in terms of integration into the world economy, with the Netherlands topping the list, according to the Global Connectedness Index 2011 launched by DHL Tuesday.

The index examines data on 10 different types of international flows, including trade, capital, information and people, from 2005 to 2010.

It found that China rose four ranks since 2005 to 63rd place among the 125 countries; while Hong Kong remained at ninth place over the period.

The study also said that globalization is still not as advanced as most people believe and that continued economic integration could spur global gross domestic product gains of 5 percent or more.

Global connectedness has enormous room to expand, even among the most "connected" countries.
