A Boeing 747-400 carrying a blend of 13.1 tons of biofuel and 39.3 tons of jet fuel took off from Beijing International Capital Airport at the end of last month. It landed again safely after a 58-minute test flight.

It was the first time a biofuel test flight had been carried out in China.

The flight was the result of a cooperation program between China's National Energy Administration (NEA) and the US Trade and Development Agency that started last year.

"There was no difference from conventional jet fuel when flying," Zheng Weimin, the captain of the flight, said afterwards.

"Through our collaborative efforts with China, we have found an incredible partner and a place where national capability, innovation and technology come together in a remarkable way," said Boeing China President Marc Allen.
