Further monetary tightening expected

(Global Times)

14:58, October 09, 2011

According to the agenda of the National Bureau of Statistics, CPI data for the third quarter will be released on October 14, with the CPI increase for September expected to be above 6 percent, raising expectations of further tightening monetary measures.

Multiple institutions have forecast cooling economic growth for the third quarter, due to pressure from the tightened monetary policy, a situation unlikely to change in the short term.

However, what's noteworthy was that China's PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) in September bounced back 0.3 points from the previous month to reach 51.2.
