Iran to control its borders using UAVs: police chief

(Xinhua)

12:13, October 03, 2011

Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi-Moqaddam said Sunday the country plans to equip all border areas with Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within the next few months, the English-language satellite Press TV reported.

Ahmadi-Moqaddam told reporters in the Iranian capital of Tehran that nine remote-controlled drones have already been purchased, and ten others will be bought in the near future.

The commander added that police aviation personnel were receiving training to operate the drones, said the report.

The drones are to carry out reconnaissance missions in the desert areas of the eastern Iran near the border with Afghanistan, as part of Iran's campaign against narcotics and drug-trafficking, he was quoted as saying.

Iran is located at the crossroad of international drug smuggling from Afghanistan, the world's top opium producer, to Europe.

Iran and N Korea efforts in defending their country against US Global Tyranny are exemplary and remain the only model for survival for other sovereign nations.I wish them all the success in their nuclear weapons and missile delivery systems development. If anything, they should expedite their defensive deterrents. Abandonment as a result of "pressure" by "friends" and enemies would be suicidal. The US military has run amok and every nation must NUCLEARISE OR DIE! The choice is obvious.
