09:45, August 25, 2011

ANKARA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Turkey condemned Wednesday the suicide attack on a mosque in Pakistan during Friday prayer last week, the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry expressed sorrow in a statement over the death of Pakistani people, saying Turkey strongly condemned the attack, which it said targeted peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in a packed mosque last Friday, killing at least 40 worshipers and injuring scores of others in Khyber agency.

Such a heinous attack on worshipers in holy month of Ramadan caused indignation in public, the ministry said, adding that Turkey would continue to support Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and extremism.
