At least one killed in passenger plane's hard landing in Russia

MOSCOW, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane made a hard landing in Russia's Tuva republic Monday, killing at least one people and injured three others, said Russian air safety watchdog Rosaviatsiyz.

According to Rosaviatsiyz, the An-2 plane made the crash landing in the Todzhi district of Tuva in a poor visibility conditions due to bad weather.

The three injured were in grave condition, reported Itar-Tass news agency.

According to unconfirmed reports, the plane with fishermen onboard was on a flight to local lakes, where a storm warning was announced several hours ago.

A local emergency ministry spokesman said the survivors contacted rescuers via a satellite phone.

A helicopter with rescue team on board has been sent but preliminary reports said the bad weather hampered the rescue team to reach the site.

The An-2 is a small four-wing plane with maximum capacity of 14 passengers.
