The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Red Cross Society had launched relief operations for flood victims, the official news agency KCNA reported Thursday.
According to the KCNA, the Red Cross dispatched inspection teams to the flood-hit cities and counties of South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces, Kaesong City and other areas to assess damage and provide emergency relief materials to victims.
It has also provided medical services, while taking measures to prevent possible outbreaks of epidemics, the report said.
A number of Red Cross volunteers were also taking part in relief activities, it said.
The DPRK has suffered severe losses caused by typhoon-5 and heavy rains from late June to mid-July.
