GENEVA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S., Russian and United Nations officials will meet in Geneva on June 5 to further the preparations for the international conference on Syria backed by the United States and Russia, a UN spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
Corinne Momal-Vanian, director of the UN Information Service in Geneva, said in a statement that the senior UN officials for this meeting are Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN-Arab League joint special representative and Jeffrey Feltman, the UN under-secretary-general for political affairs.
The United States and Russia agreed in early May to sponsor another international conference in Geneva to end the 26-month-old conflict. No date has been set for the conference.
