Explosions reported at U.S. gas plant

WASHINGTON, May 13 (Xinhua) -- A series of explosions was reported Monday afternoon at an industrial gas plant in U.S. state of West Virginia, and at least 2 were injured.

According to the WCHS-TV, which serves the Charleston area, the explosion took place at about 3:20 p.m. in an Airgas plant in Putnam County. Airgas is an industrial gas manufacturer.

Citing an emergency dispatcher, the report said at least two people have been taken to the hospital, and nearby roads were closed shortly after the explosions were reported.

Multiple fire departments were responding to the scene. It is not yet clear what caused the explosion.
