KIEV, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said the country was shocked by the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Libya and voiced strong condemnation of the violent deeds.

"This awful crime, unfortunately, once again shows that the real security situation in Libya is far from what the international community tried to achieve through its actions against the country," the director of the ministry's information policy department, Oleh Voloshyn, told local media.

The ministry also expressed its condolences to the families and friends of the victims and to the U.S. government.
