Do not give up efforts for peaceful solution of Syrian crisis

(People's Daily Online)

09:49, August 25, 2012

The UN Supervision Mission to Syria officially ended its 120-day mission on Aug. 19, which takes least time in the peace-keeping history. However, the record results from that both sides choose to solve the conflicts by war, instead of fulfillment of mission.

Since last March when the Syrian crisis broke out, the conflict between the government and the opposition has intensified and the flames of war have expanded to the capital Damascus. Currently, the two sides are fighting the seesaw battle in Aleppo.

Over the past year, although the external force failed to interfere in the Syrian crisis, but some countries involved still supported the sanction against Syria in UN Security Council and provided technical and personnel support for rebels, in order to promote the regime change in Syria. Recently, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that measures to accelerate the overthrow of Syrian President have been discussed during her visit to Turkey.
