MOSCOW, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russia's foreign trade surplus in the first half of 2012 grew 10.5 percent year-on-year, the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) said Tuesday.
According to Rosstat, the Russian trade surplus amounted to 109.2 billion U.S. dollars in January-June, keeping a positive trend compared with 98.8 billion dollars in the first half of 2011.
Rosstat's report cited figures from the Russian Central Bank, which said Russia's import grew by 4.1 percent in the first half of 2012 while export rose by 6.7 percent in the same period.
According to the Central Bank, Russia's trade turnover reached 417.6 billion dollars in the first six months, a 5.7-percent increase against the same period of 2011.
Fuel and energy products remained the pillars of Russia's export.
