PARIS, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande and Jordanian King Abdullah II held a phone conversation on Tuesday to discuss ways to help Syrian refugees in Jordanian borders, the Elysee Palace said Wednesday.

The two discussed "the upcoming deployment by France of a military medical and surgical group in the Jordanian-Syrian border," the Elysee Palace said in a statement.

Hollande reiterated France's support "to help the victims of the fighting and refugees forced to leave Syria."

During the talks, the Jordanian king praised France's move to respond to an urgent need of medical and surgical group in borders with Syria after thousands of refugees fled the heavy fighting between government forces and rebels.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius was scheduled to kick off a three-day visit next week to Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, which have been challenged by a large influx of Syrian refugees for months.
