WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday announced new disaster response measures to help individuals and businesses over 30 states get through a "historic" and "devastating" drought, including an additional funding of 30 million U.S. dollars.
The "historic" and "devastating" disaster hit throughout the country, leaving "profound" impact on farmers and ranchers, said Obama after a disaster response meeting in the White House.
"This has been an all-hands-on-deck response," said Obama, stressing that all agencies across the federal government should join the efforts.
He announced that the federal government has allocated 30 million U.S. dollars to the Department of Agriculture to deliver further assistance to drought-stricken Americans, with 1,500 counties across 32 U.S. states designated as disaster areas.
