Syria accuses Turkey, U.S. of supporting terrorism

DAMASCUS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Thursday accused Turkey of playing a major role in supporting terrorism in Syria, adding that the United States and France have also explicitly announced their support to the armed insurgent groups that are committing crimes against the Syrian people.

In a letter sent to the United Nations and published by the state media, the ministry said the Turkish government is rendering support to the armed fighters in Syria through opening its borders and airports to the terrorists of al-Qaida and other Jihadists to join the fight in Syria.

It also lashed out at the United States and France, saying that both the countries have announced to directly finance armed groups in Syria and equip them with communication means to carry on with their criminal acts.
