COTABATO, Philippines, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A homemade bomb exploded on Tuesday night inside a car of a Filipino-Chinese trader in the southern Philippines, leaving one hurt, police said Wednesday.

Alfredo Sanchez was wounded when a parked Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle owned by Luis Tan exploded at around 7:40 p.m. in the city of General Santos, according to police investigator Ronald Bautista.

Bautista said Tan was engaged in selling hardware supplies.

"We are investigating if the incident has to do with business rivalry or extortion," Bautista said.
