BEIRUT, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Ambassador Angeline Eichhorst, head of the delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, called Wednesday to "resume peace negotiations as soon as possible" to achieve progress in the peace process in the Middle East.

According to a statement released by the EU representation office in Lebanon, Eichhorst made her remarks during a visit to Sabra, Shatila and Mar Elias Palestinian refugees camps in Beirut.

"Solving the Israeli-Arab conflict is a strategic priority for the European Union," Eichhorst said, reiterating that the EU is making continuous commitment to achieve a "permanent and just" solution to the conflict.

Eichhorst also said that the EU provided around 62 million Euros for projects related to social development and infrastructure in Lebanon.
