PARIS, July 10 (Xinhua) -- France's elite unit of the Raid arrested a gunman who took an adult hostage at a summer school in Paris outskirts on Tuesday, local media reported.

Citing police source, news channel BFMTV said the hostage-taker, in his thirties, surrended without using of force. He suffered from strong psychological disorder and expressed intentions to commit suicide.

Shortly before the arrest, a hostage was released safe, the report added.

Before opening time, the armed man holed up inside a nursery school with one hostage who succeeded to convince him to free the other adults and children who were in the school.

In June, a 26-year-old man with a record of psychological problems, claiming to be a member of al Qaeda, was shot and arrested by elite police in the southern town of Toulouse after taking several hostages in a bank.

Toulouse witnessed also Mohamed Merah's serial shootings that left seven victims including three children. The al-Qaeda-inspired man was later shot dead by police at his home.
