Israel warns citizens against traveling to Tunisia for possible attacks

JERUSALEM, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Counter Terrorism Bureau on Thursday warned against traveling to Tunisia ahead of the Lag B'Omer festival in the city of Djerba due to possible attacks.

The bureau said potential attacks may target Jews on their way to attend the festival, which is expected to take place next week in Djerba, where an ancient synagogue is worshipped by thousands of Jews every year.

Last year, fewer Jewish pilgrims came to visit the synagogue due to the tumultuous situation after the unrest in Tunisia.

The bureau also issued a travel warning against Turkey on Tuesday, though the risk level was considered low, and recently warned against traveling to Egypt's Sinai in light of an increased threat of attacks by Global Jihad in Africa.
