DAMASCUS, May 3 (Xinhua) -- An armed group on Thursday attacked a building that houses a number of Russian experts along with their families in al-Tijara neighborhood in the Syrian capital of Damascus, reports and witnesses said.

The attack left a security member injured and two of the attackers captured. But neither the Russian experts nor their families were injured, according to the Russia Today (RT) website.

Meanwhile, local witnesses said that the armed men have fled to nearby orchards as the authorities launched a manhunt to bring them into custody.

The RT said the Russian experts have signed contracts with the Syrian government since 30 years ago.

Armed attacks have intensified lately in Damascus. The armed opposition seems determined to move the battleground to the capital in a bid to destabilize the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, who still enjoys considerable support in major Syrian cities including Damascus.
