11:55, April 29, 2012

KABUL, April 28 (Xinhua) -- A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died Saturday in restive southern Afghanistan, the ISAF said.

"An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of a non-battle related injury in southern Afghanistan today," the ISAF said in a press release.

The brief statement did not disclose the nationality of the victim under ISAF policy.

Troops mainly from the U.S., Britain and Australia have been stationed in southern Afghanistan within the framework of ISAF to curb Taliban-linked insurgency there.

A total of 133 foreign soldiers with majority of them Americans have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
