NYC's 2 World Financial Center declared all clear

09:40, April 13, 2012

NEW YORK, April 12 (Xinhua) -- New York Police Department (NYPD) said on Thursday that the suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of NYC's 2 World Financial Center was a toy grenade.

The evacuation took place around 11 a.m. after an x-ray of a package at the building appeared to reveal a grenade inside, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. The bomb squad of the police department was at the scene to investigate the package.

Around 12:30, police declared all clear after finding that the suspicious package was a toy grenade.

The 44-story building is located in Lower Manhattan and stands across the street from where the World Trade Center once stood before 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.
