YAGNON, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar lifted tsunami warning Wednesday at 07:00 p.m. local times, saying that the tsunami has not grown big enough to affect the country's coastal areas as predicted, the state radio and TV reported.

However, the Sumatra quake was felt in many parts of Myanmar, such as Mandalay, Sittway, Kyaukphyu, Laputta and Chaungtha.

A very strong earthquake measuring 8.6 on the Richter scale jolted the west coast of Indonesia at 08:38:30 GMT Wednesday.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was monitored at about 2. 3 degrees north latitude and 93.1 degrees east longitude.

The quake was followed by an aftershock measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale two hours later. The second quake jolted off the coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
