ALGIERS, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) signed an agreement with Algeria to send monitors for the parliamentary election scheduled on May 10, Algerian ministry of foreign affairs announced Sunday.

The agreement was signed Saturday by Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci and OIC chief Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the local APS news agency reported.

Medelci has said earlier that the North African nation has taken necessary measures to host 500 foreign monitors representing the European Union, the Arab League, the African Union, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the United Nations.
