Kashmiri devotees take part in a torch light festival (locally called Frov), outside the shrine of a sufi saint Zainuddin Wali in Aishmuqam town of Anantnag District, some 76 kilometers south of Srinagar, summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, April 6, 2012.
People from the nearby areas visited the shrine of this sufi saint ahead of the new agricultural season to participate in the festival. According to village folklore, the staging of torchlight marks the triumph of good over evil, for the saint once during his life chased away a demon that was causing trouble to the villagers.
