Damaged luxury cruise arrived at Malaysian port

KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia, Apr. 2 (Xinhua) -- A fire-damaged luxury cruise carrying around 1,000 people arrived at Sandakan port in Sabah state in Malaysia's east peninsula late Sunday, and at least one injured crew member was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The 30,277-ton Azamara Quest,escorted by a ship from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, arrived at the port shortly before 9 p.m..

Media personnel were denied entry to the docking areas, while ambulances and buses were seen entering the port, sources told Xinhua.

The luxury cruise, with 590 passengers and 411 crew members on board, caught fire off southern Philippines Friday night on its way to the Malaysian port.
